Teacher Training Programme

Develop your skills as a German language teacher.

A structured programme for aspiring and practising German language educators — combining live online instruction with certified self-study and in-person training weeks in Kochi with native-speaking teachers from Germany.

This programme is right for you if you are…

Who Is This For

For those who teach — or want to teach — German.

This programme is designed for two groups: German language educators who are already teaching and want to deepen their methodology and gain formal qualifications, and aspiring teachers who are preparing to enter the profession.

In both cases, you will be taught by native-speaking German educators from Germany — professionals who bring not just pedagogical expertise but a deep, lived understanding of German language, culture, and daily life.

Programme Structure

Three components. One internationally recognised certificate.

Each component is delivered by a specialist partner. Together they provide training that is academically grounded, practically focused, and culturally authentic.

1. Online Live Instruction

Live online sessions with experienced, native-speaking German educators from speakeasy Berlin. Interactive and methodology-driven, these sessions focus on action-oriented teaching approaches, lesson design, and effective classroom communication.

2. Self-Study Component

A certified self-study curriculum developed by telc gGmbH — one of Europe's leading language assessment organisations. Work through pedagogical theory, assessment frameworks, and the methodology behind internationally recognised German language qualifications.

1. In-Person Week — Kochi

In-person training weeks held at the DeutschPro India school in Kochi, taught by the same native-speaking teachers from speakeasy Berlin. Real German classroom experience, action-oriented methods, and an authentic understanding of German life and culture — in person.

Modules

Two modules — each with its own certificate.

The programme runs in two consecutive modules, each combining online live sessions, certified self-study, hospitation, and an in-person week in Kochi. Each module concludes with its own telc-certified qualification — complete both for the full 145 UE certificate.

Foundation Module (Basismodul)

14 September – 7 November 2026 · 73 UE
The Foundation Module introduces the core principles of German language instruction: the Common European Framework, action-oriented methodology, and lesson planning. Live online sessions run twice weekly in the evening, with self-study via telc Campus and one full in-person week in Kochi.

Advanced Module (Aufbaumodul)

10 November – 19 December 2026 72 UE
The Advanced Module builds on the foundation: effective communication in the classroom, error analysis and testing, plus an elective specialisation. Structured the same way — live online evenings, self-study, hospitation, and one in-person week in Kochi.

The Kochi In-Person Week

Hands-on training with native-speaking teachers from Germany.

Foundation Module — In-Person Week: 5–8 October 2026

Two full days of in-person training (CEFR deepening and methodology/didactics), followed by a half-day hospitation and a closing day of lesson planning with joint review.

Methodology in Practice

How native German teachers structure their lessons — tools and approaches from real German teaching experience, not just textbooks.

Hospitation Day

Observe live teaching, then discuss what you saw with your trainers — a structured way to connect theory with classroom reality.

Advanced Module — In-Person Week: 30 Nov – 2 Dec 2026

Two full in-person days on classroom communication and on error analysis & testing, plus a hospitation observation linked to telc exam-training practice.
